A fading shop sign for More More Fashion in Handsworth, Soho Road.

I am not sure if I would trust this garage with servicing my car...

 ...judging from this shop front, seen in West Bromwich.

The letter P has been kidnapped from this Italian restaurant in Moseley.

The decline of the British boozer is my delight!

Highlight of my day when I spotted this ghost sign, nearly crashed my car while driving by as I could not take my eyes of it.

Another British boozer in decline, this used to be The Barrel in the Gun Quarter. 

The Pallasades Shopping Centre is being transformed currently by the refurbishment of New Street train station, which makes this sign appear rather shy.

Another ghost sign on a closed cinema in Hockley. The cinema used to be called The New Palladium, further pictures which highlight the cinema's former glorious past can be seen here.

Is this a sign of the fading importance and status of monarchy in our society?

Visual Dyslexia in the Jewellery Quater

I took these snaps on a recent type walk through the Jewellery Quarter. The walk was hosted by Sam Roberts, Mr. Ghostsign. The above signage led to great speculation (and amusement) as to what it once had read.

 Looks like a football score to me...

Usually ampersands are bring other words together, here a 'lonely' one. 

(Maybe it upset the others?)

Open to who?

The Bullion Room, I love the 'new' font created naturally by the intensity of the sun dissolving and evolving glue and paint.

This sign is only a few years old and already half gone! It says a lot about the 'quality' of shop signs today, when shop signs painted over 100 years ago are often still visible.

Digbeth is clutter with these folding garage doors and I cannot stop myself 

snapping away at them.

Shakin' that ass...a little too much?

Visual Dyslexic in Stirchley

A beautiful old ghost sign and an ugly, modern visual dyslexic sign, 

Fordhouse Lane corner Pershore Road in Stirchley. 

This visual dyslexic sign looks like it is right from the times of the American gold rush.

An amalgamation of ghost signs and visual dyslexia, beautiful! Local history at it's best!

I am not sure what this ghost sign used to advertise. It is now a bit difficult to access and sadly partialy covered by a satellite dish. The sign however is certainly much longer lasting then the local show, which seems to have changed ownership several times in the past few years (according to google street view).

This prime example of visual dyslexia reflects the business within perfectly. Do not act surprised if you leave this dental surgery with a 'missing' tooth or two!

A fading ghost sign of Fruiterer and Confectioner, a seemingly dying trade. 

So are the Public Baths of Stirchely which now lie derelict and forgotten.

Visual dyslexic fireworks

Above a close up of a visual dyslexia that I am driving past since years, this very season shop is only open a few weeks every year, however the trade in fireworks seems to be so good that the owners install a new sign every season.

At the large Camp Hill Circus roundabout fades this visual dyslexia of The Brewer and Baker pub.

A well documented ghost sign of Elizabeth drapery, lingerie, etc., Yardly Wood Road.
